A Surreal Encounter Above Dolores Park (video)

I’m sure weirder things have happened at Dolores Park. But the weirdness combined with being four stories up on a bright, sunny day, really pushes this encounter into the red.

I was at home being all Sundayzee and thought about ignoring Daniel Jarvis‘ call at first, but then answered…

Jarvis: Dude, crazy dancing chicks on a rooftop! Bring your camera!
Me: I was gonna take a nap.
Jarvis: I said crazy dancing chicks on a rooftop! You’re two blocks away! Let’s go up there! With the camera!
Me: How do you know they even want us up there?
Jarvis (calling up to rooftop): Hey! Hey, down here! Can we come up and film you? We have a camera! Can we? (to me) They said we can go up there!
Me: Okay, Okay…

I think it was worth it.

UPDATE: The song is “Go Do” by Jonsi. Video shot and edited by Jarvis.

San Francisco is so weird. Love it.

    Hi Jeff,

I’ve lost half a day reading your blog, and alas it’s nearly 5pm so I better get some work done! San Francisco is the only US city I’ve visited (from Australia) and I barely spent 12 days there. What you have presented here in words and video compels me to come back and spend much longer in the city.

(Tried to send this via your About page but it failed…)

While I’m here, what’s the music in this video clip?

Sir! That’s no crazy chick, that’s my niece. She is perfectly sane.

  • Jarvis | Jun 11, 2010 at 6:11 pm

Crazy = Cool sir, crazy cool. 🙂

The building next door is my old apartment house, our first home in SF. We spent a lot of time on that roof. Much nostalgia induced, as I’m in Colombia at the moment.

The video content has just been AMAZING. Another fab job. How long does it take you to cut together a piece like this?

  • Jeff Diehl | Jun 13, 2010 at 8:16 am

thanks, Matt. Sir Daniel Jarvis is a bit of a savant when it comes to the music video stuff. i think he cut this together in a few hours.

  • Daniel Jarvis | Jun 14, 2010 at 5:14 pm

Thanks a lot mattymatt! Yeah after talking to Lila (one of the girls) I decided to make some cuts, started previewing itunes songs and almost immediately went to Jonsi for some musical inspiration. After that the meat of it was put together in a few hours. Really appreciate all the love folks!
